As we enter the month of November our thoughts turn to the 11th, and we think about and pay respects to the men and women of the armed forces who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country, not just in WW1 but in all conflicts. They say chess is war. How good it would be if national disagreements could be decided in a such a bloodless, non-violent manner. We can but dream. I present some images of chess at times of war to gaze upon and ponder.
